Above Ground vs. In-Ground

A-Frame Ladders (Above Ground)
Both sides have steps—up the outside, down the inside. Required for above-ground pools. Look for models with removable or locking outside steps for child safety.

In-Ground Ladders
Mount to the deck with anchors, extend into the pool. Standard 2-3 steps. Require proper installation into concrete or deck surface.

### Weight Capacity Matters

Handrails: Essential for stability. Should extend above deck level for easy grip.

Anchoring: In-ground ladders must anchor securely. Above-ground should have weights or pins to prevent tipping.
